a method of digital rights management
at BCA Research. The process requires
clients to install a plug-in for Adobe
Acrobat to unlock encrypted PDFs. |

are common questions and answer regarding
PDF Security. In the event that you
encounter an issue that is not listed

Q:
When trying to access the
research, I receive an error
message saying "Document
Access Denied. A component
required for viewing this
document needs to be updated,
please re-install the FileOpen
plug-in." |

 |
| A:
This error message may appear
if you have upgraded your
adobe reader. Please reinstall
the plug-in from http://plugin.fileopen.com.
Please note that you do
not need to re-register
your computer, if you are
completing the installation
on the same machine. |

Q: I have installed the
plug-in but continue to
receive an error message
saying "Document Access
Denied. This machine is
not registered for access
to this document." |

 |
| A:
After you have completed
the installation, you
must register your computer.
Simply open the registration
PDF file on your intended
computer and this will
automatically register
the machine. If you did
not receive a registration
file, please contact BCA
Client Services at 1-800-724-2942.
Alternatively you can
login to our website and
click on My Account. The
registration PDF is located
under the heading PDF
Security. Once you register
your computer, you should
be able to open the research
document. |

Q: When trying to register
my computer, I receive
an error message saying
"Registration failed.
Your have already registered
your quota of machines."

| A:
A. The plug-in can only
be installed on a limited
amount of computers, per
user. To obtain additional
registrations please contact
your sales representative
or BCA Client Services.

Q: When I try to open an
encrypted research document,
I receive a pop up window
entitled Adobe Update with
the message "Some components
needed to complete this
operation are missing but
information about them may
be available on the Adobe
website. Would you like
to search the Adobe website
for the missing components?" |

| A:If
you have not already installed
the plug-in, please complete
the plug-in installation
from http://plugin.fileopen.com
You will then need to
register your computer
by opening the registration
PDF previously sent to
you. If you do not have
a copy of the registration
PDF, login to our website
and click on My Account.
The registration PDF is
located under the heading
PDF Security. Once you
registered your computer,
you should be able to
open the research document.

you have already completed
the plug-in installation,
please check your Adobe
preferences by following
the below steps. Please
refer to the below screenshot. |

Open
your Adobe Reader |

From
the "Edit"
Menu, click on "Preferences" |

Choose
the "General"
category. |

From
the "Application
Start Up" box,
uncheck the option
that reads "Use
only certified plug-ins". |

Close
Adobe Reader and now
open the encrypted
document. |

is a built-in safety check
from your Internet browser
to ensure that you are familiar
with the source of the file
you are installing. |

in Firefox, I get a popup
window entitled Warning
- Security with the message
"The application's digital
signature has been verified,
do you want to run the application?"
Run or Cancel? |

Click Run. |

In Internet Explorer I get
the below message "This
website wants to install
the following add-on: Fileopen

A. Click on notification
and install ActiveX. |

Q:
When installing the plug-in
I get a pop up entitled
"FileOpen Installer"
with the message "Adobe
Acrobat is active. Click
OK to close Acrobat. |

 |
| A:
Click okay to close Adobe
Acrobat processes. If you
continue to receive this
message, but do not have
any adobe processes running,
then a dead process may
be occurring. You can completely
shut down your computer
and reboot or close the
process from your task manager.
